Friends of Portland Museum, formerly known as P.I.M.S. (Portland Island Museum Supporters) is a group set up in 2012 to help support the museum through fundraising activities and subscriptions.
By joining our group your annual membership helps us to support the museum and entitles you to free entry to the museum and reduced entry to our fundraising events.
To date, Friends of Portland Museum have donated the funds raised from our 2016 events to the Thatched Roof Appeal, which ran through 2016 and was very successful. The work has now been completed. We have also purchased a display cabinet for the Maritime room, two outside storage boxes for stacking chairs (used for museum events), a new advertising flag with the museum logo, two new PIMS banners for events outside the museum, new UV filter blinds for the museum and new UV screens for the museum’s gallery windows which meet the recent accreditation requirements.

PORTLAND MUSEUM is an indépendant registered Charitable Trust run by volunteers. The Museum relies on the generosity of individuals, other charities and sponsors to support the conservation and care of collections, the on-going update of exhibits, its educational programme and community activities.
